What does Russian foreign policy aim at?

by Norbert F. Tofall

Russian foreign policy is an attempt to bring former Soviet republics home to the Russian Empire and to regain hegemonic influence over former Warsaw Pact states.

It is therefore attempting to undermine the political implementation of Western assistance commitments for Eastern and Central European states. It is time for the West to develop and implement new concepts of "extended deterrence" to secure peace in times of hybrid warfare.
