The goodwill bubble

The German companies are hardly writing off their goodwill portfolios. This entails risks.

In 2014, the goodwills shown on the balance sheets of DAX and MDAX companies reached a new high for the tenth year in succession. These now total € 287.9 billion (CAGR: 7.2 %) or an average of € 8.1 billion for DAX companies and € 0.9 billion for MDAX companies.
