The End of the Social Market Economy

The social market economy had already lost its substantive power before the Corona crisis. Now it has finally been replaced by the insurance state. The predetermined breaking point is the monetary system.

For Ludwig Erhard, a stable monetary system was the basic prerequisite for the functioning of the social market economy. It was supposed to enable the development of freedom and not be used for political purposes.
