Putin's splitting policy unites the West

Russian foreign policy has taken every opportunity in recent years to undermine the credibility of the extended deterrent in Europe.

So far, Western governments have reacted very cautiously, but seem to have woken up after the poison gas attack in the UK. Putin has led Russia into a self-generated geopolitical dilemma since 2000. However, a resolution of this dilemma should probably wash away Putin's regime.
