How CEO salaries have doubled unnoticed

Payments to the CEOs of DAX companies from long-term remuneration programs have doubled on average since they were first granted. At BASF the amount increased fourteenfold. Amongst the reasons for this increase is the ECB’s monetary policy.

Payments from long-term remuneration programs to the CEOs of DAX companies have doubled on average since they were first granted. At BASF they have even risen fourteenfold. Due to the option-like nature of many compensation programs, some CEOs have profited excessively from the ECB’s policy, which has led to significant stock price increases in recent years.  In 2017, the CEOs of DAX companies received an average salary of EUR 6.4 million.
