The Great Inflation: Learning from Pain

In the 1970s, science and politics learned the lessons of monetary and economic policy painfully through inflation and reces- sion. Although the situation then is comparable to today, a paradigm shift in economic science as in the 1970s from Keynesianism to monetarism is not yet in sight today.
