Looking at the consolidated profits reported in the profit and loss accounts of DAX companies, an aggregated net income of € 387 billion can be calculated for the period 2008 to 2014. However, the overall profit of €325 billion is almost one-fifth lower.

The reason for this is the so-called Other Comprehensive Income (OCI), which has recently torn massive holes in the equity of some companies and whose importance has increased significantly in recent years.
