An economic government for Europe?

The euro as a political project serves France and its ally to commit the euro area to their economic policy objectives.

Both the recently renewed French and Italian demands for a European economic government and Schäuble's goal of Europe-wide financial discipline contradict the European idea of freedom, which has emerged from the diversity of Europe.
